JOB TITLE:                                                  Audit Assistant

 

 

POSITION PURPOSE

 

 

 

To assist the Internal Audit Department to achieve its annual audit plan and EFCL objectives by performing routine audit sampling, testing, review and reporting on selected business activities and processes using modern audit techniques.

 

 MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

 

 

  1. Preparation of Audit Programmes.
  2. Perform related audit analysis and sampling.
  3. Carry out substantive and compliance testing.
  4. Produce reports for submission to the Internal Auditor.
  5. Assist the Internal Auditor by providing necessary ancillary duties vital to the functioning of the Internal Audit Department.
  6. Execute audit assistant functions to check the accuracy of accounting systems and procedures.
  7. Review, assess and recommend changes in accounting systems and internal controls.
  8. Verify and inspect accounts receivable and payable ledgers and general ledger for accuracy.
  9. Audit testing and reporting on the hardware and software systems of EFCL.
  10. Check, inspect and reconcile bank deposits and payments.
  11. Inspect and assess, budgets, balance sheets and other related financial statements and records.
  12. Check and verify project management records are in conformity with industry practices, Ministry of Education “Terms of Reference” and regulatory policies.
  13. Monitor compliance with statutory guidelines, legislation and generally accepted auditing standards.
  14. Maintenance of the Filing system of the Internal Audit Department.
  15. Minor clerical duties.
  16. Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

 

 

 

 

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

 

 

 

  • Thorough knowledge of the principles, procedures and practices of auditing, accounting and financial records and transaction.
  • Sound knowledge of computerized auditing and accounting record keeping systems.
  • Sound comprehension, analytical, calculative and problem solving skills.
  • Integrity within a professional environment.
  • Sound leadership and communication skills.
  • Advanced report writing and review skills.
  • Microsoft Excel proficient

 

  

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

 

 

 

  • Pursuing ACCA Level Two.
  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in Audit or Accounting.

 

  • Two (2) to Three (3) years of accounting and auditing experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
