Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited is looking for a suitable candidate to join our Financial Control team in the capacity of:
Assistant Manager - Accounting (Financial Analysis & Planning)
The selected candidate will provide accounting support to assist with the smooth functioning of various investment-related financial analysis and reporting cycles within the Finance Unit by ensuring that the Bank’s investment portfolio and all investment-related transactions are properly recognized and reported in accordance with company policy and applicable accounting standards (IFRS), and comply with all regulatory and other stakeholders’ reporting requirements
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze variance reports for Branches, Retail Banking, Corporate and Commercial Banking, Treasury, and Credit Cards
- Prepare reports related to pledged assets and investment portfolio, including the Monthly CITI GAV report, Quarterly SFC Package, and Annual Disclosure notes
- Prepare list of OL investments classified as Loans
- Track Tax Free Income
- Prepare quarterly reports to SFC, and disclosure notes to the annual financial statements on the investment portfolio’s market and interest rate risks, and geographic and sector exposures
- Prepare Jamaica Deposit Insurance Corporation (JDIC) report
- Prepare quarterly reports for other stakeholders for Development Bank of Jamaica, National EXIM Bank of Jamaica, and Statistical Institute of Jamaica
- Prepare monthly reconciliation of investment securities reported by Citi GAV, with statements from Jefferies and Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) Securities Portfolio
The successful candidates should have the following qualifications, specialized skills and competencies:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, or equivalent qualifications, from a recognized tertiary institution
- ACCA level II, or equivalent qualifications
- At least five (5) years’ accounting experience, including two (2) years at a supervisory level
- Knowledge of applicable accounting standards (IFRS)
- Working knowledge of the Banking Services Act, Companies Act, Securities Act, and regulatory requirements
- Strong analytical, and conceptual thinking skills
- Organizational awareness with an understanding of how to engage the organization to get things done
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented, and dynamic environment
- Sound knowledge of accounting techniques
- Familiarity with computerized accounting systems
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Excellent human relations skills
- Ability to produce reports
- Strong proficiency in the use of personal computing productivity applications, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
