CORE FUNCTION
To ensure the maintenance and repairs of the hotel’s assets and upkeep of the property with a view to achieving operational effectiveness of mechanical and electrical equipment/machinery.
1) Oversee the installation, repair and upkeep of the property including maintenance of guest rooms, machinery, equipment, mechanical and electrical systems, buildings and other structures.
2) Assist in ensuring that established health, safety and environmental policies are adhered to
3) Perform root cause analyses and resolve maintenance-related problems
4) Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to manage the process of introduction of new machinery, kitchen and plant equipment,
5) Manage computerized systems to collect and store data
6) Implement and manage maintenance records and proper preventative maintenance checklist
7) Inspects work done by outside contractors to ensure satisfactory completion
8) Supervise and follow-up on assigned jobs to ensure work is done to the required standard and in a timely manner.
9) Adopt systems to review the nature of past and ongoing problems in order to develop tactical approaches in the maintenance programme.
10) Assist in contract negotiations
11) Actively participate as a safety monitor on the Safety Committee
12) Spearhead the preventative and corrective maintenance activities of the various plants on property.
13) Monitor maintenance and storeroom stock costs to ensure that they are kept within the approved budgetary guidelines
14) Assist the Purchasing Department in sourcing tools, equipment or materials needed
15) Assist the Maintenance Manager in determining capital requests and managing contracts for capital projects
16) Work closely with the Housekeeping Department regarding maintenance of guest rooms
17) Set up preventative maintenance schedules for all air-conditioning units and major electronic/electrical equipment.
18) Provide inputs for the preparation of the annual maintenance budget
19) Conduct Performance Appraisals with staff as required by the hotel
20) Peruse the Night Manager’s report daily to identify maintenance-related matters requiring attention
21) Any other related duties that may be assigned from time to time.
BSc Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
