Job Summary
The incumbent is responsible for monitoring and analyzing changes in the global and regional capital markets environment to support the various lines of business within the Group. He/she is also responsible for conducting research on global asset classes, new market opportunities and products as well as provides recommendations on investment option to Portfolio Managers and engages in initiatives/activities to educate/develop the Caribbean capital markets.
Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct research into global industries/sectors with regard to demand, supply and competiveness as well as perform research into specific securities (bonds, stocks, etc.) based on research conducted in these industries/ sectors to aid in the decision-making on investment recommendations
Create, build and maintain detailed financial models and industry databases to aid in the decision making on investment recommendations
Prepare comprehensive reports and make recommendation for investment requested by various lines of business with regard to risk, return, suitability based on related research conducted as well as prepare similar reports/recommendations with regard to investment opportunities globally for review by Management to be disseminated to internal clients
Maintain and coordinate a Research portfolio of recommendations to track and measure individual performance and to compare returns over research- produced benchmarks
Review, recommend and conduct market read exercise in order to construct monthly yield curves for Group Market Risk and makes the appropriate recommendations to Manager as well as review/ authorizes monthly portfolio valuation for clients
Prepare and review Investment Services weekly and quarterly articles/paper for Management’s review before publication including, but not limited to Caribbean Investment iQ, Investment Weekly, etc. to edify/provide perspective on current events including creating awareness of issues relevant to fixed income/equity markets and company’s brand/services
Conduct presentations on relevant topics to help build technical capacity within the group as well as to build the First Citizens brand by conducting external presentations
Review and authorize Investment Services’ daily publications such as Daily Market iQ, jumpstart etc. for correctness and provide related feedback as required
Engage in marketing of the Group’s products and services
Respond to customers’ requests, enquires, incoming and outgoing calls, both local and foreign, in a courteous and timely manner consistent with operation standards and escalation to Head, Research where necessary
Complete special projects and other delegated activities as assigned by the Head, Research
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/ Economics/ Management; completion of CFA Level 11 and three (3) years experience in a financial/economic research field. Time management skills, organizational skills, analytical skills, research skills, problem solving skills, cross selling skills as well as strong oral and written skills are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite as well as knowledge of the Group’s products and services are also needed.
