Job Summary
The incumbent should be able to measure and report on risk in the Group’s investment portfolio using agreed metrics and reporting formats. Provide analysis and support for transactions requiring risk approval and provide general support to both the FCIS Risk Department and the Bank Risk Officer. Keeps abreast of current global market events that can impact the Group’s portfolio and provide the Group Market Risk Manager with information and analysis to support the management of risks in the company.
Duties and Responsibilities
Gather information data and reports from FCIS and the Bank Risk Officer to facilitate the monitoring of Group portfolio limits on a daily basis
Work with the Group Risk Manager and FCIS Risk Analyst II to ensure compliance with established Group level market risk policies and product programs
Perform analysis and provide recommendations to the Group Risk Manager for new trade investments and hedging strategies
Monitor and report on daily and monthly portfolio movements for the Group Investment portfolio (Bank and FCIS)
Calculate and report on various Risk measures such as Value-at-Risk (VaR), Stress Testing and Capital Adequacy at a group level
Provide analysis and support for transactions requiring approval of the Group Market Risk Manager (and AGM Credit Administration where necessary) to ensure timely approval of new investments
Prepare timely risk reports for Senior Management, ALCO and other Management Committees for review by the Market Risk Analyst II and/or Group Market Risk Manager
Build financial models using Eviews (and/or other econometric or statistical software), Excel and basic VBA programming for the purpose of analyzing new investments and structured products
Write articles for FCIS and other Bank publications as well as financial section of the local newspapers
Monitors and reports on any major market risk events (regional and international) that can adversely affect the proprietary portfolio
Assist the Market Risk Analyst II and Group Market Risk Manager with any project work that may be required
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Finance, Economics or a related discipline A minimum of three (3) years experience with at least two (2) years experience in Risk Management or a related field from the bank or brokerage house are also required. Strong technical and analytical ability, as well as working knowledge of Market, Credit and Liquidity risks concepts are needed or this role, along with Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel including basic VBA programming
