The Customs Clerk is responsible for preparation of Customs documentation to ensure that any shipments either imported or exported meet all applicable laws so that entry or export can occur.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Preparation of Customs Cheques.
- Preparation of Purchase Orders and Debit and Credit Notes.
- Manage Insurance Renewals and Claims for the fleet.
- Monitor cold storage rentals and follow up on receivables.
- Clear shipments (air and ocean) at all ports of entry.
- Prepare Trinidad & Tobago Bureau of Standards inspection fees.
- Collect shipping documents from agents (air and ocean).
- Certify cheques at commercial banks.
- Prepare documents and/or review them for accuracy and completeness.
- Locate and correct data entry errors, or report them to supervisors.
- Transact long room duties when necessary (pay duties, stamp declarations at agencies, etc.)
- Provide administrative support to the Customs Department.
- Filing of customs documents and managing the department’s stationery.
- Perform other related duties as may be required by the job function.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Five (5) CXC subjects including English Language & Mathematics.
- Customs Clerk licence.
- One (1) to two (2) years work experience in Customs clearance.
- Must be able to work without supervision.
