Administrative Assistant - Underwriting

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT - CLAIMS

 

Our client is looking for a Claims Administrative Assistant who is responsible for welcoming visitors, providing information to callers, clients and customers to the Claims Department; ensuring that internal and external contacts are responded to promptly and efficiently. Provides direct support to the claims function by ensuring claims are appropriately set up for review, maintaining and creating documents and providing superior customer service.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Possesses a strong working knowledge of all product classes and services.
  • Enter new claims and information on computer system (INSUR) ensuring that data is concise yet sufficient for file documentation.
  • Prepares insurance claim forms and maintains/ updates claims documentation for proper records management to facilitate easy retrieval, aid in decision making and ensure accuracy of payments.
  • Contact clients, claimants or others involved to get additional information.
  • Performs general clerical duties to include but not limited to: photocopying, faxing and mailing; prepare, proof read and edit documents; log and route correspondence; draft letters/memos/documents/meeting minutes.
  • Actively applies and delivers all customer service standards and core beliefs by demonstrating professionalism, promptness, accuracy, courtesy and helpfulness.
  • Handles incoming calls for the Claims Department according to company standards.
  • Greets and assists clients/ customers/ visitors to the organization and directs clients/ customers to the appropriate Customer Service Representative.
  • Provides information and ensures that internal and external contacts are responded to promptly and professionally.
  • Assists with informing customers of the requirements to report a claim and reviews submitted documents to ensure compliance.
  • Maintains hard copy and electronic filing systems to facilitate easy retrieval and proper record keeping, in accordance with the company’s standards.
  • Performs duties as assigned by Claims Administrator while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Provide relief to Receptionist as required
  • Supports the development and maintenance of a team environment by performing other related duties.
  • Adheres to Anti-Money laundering guidelines

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate Degree in Business
  • Five (5)  C.X.C. inclusive of Mathematics and English
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with excellent communication skills
  • Three (3) years experience as an administrative assistant
  • Experience in an insurance environment will be an asset.
