Our insurance client in Bermuda is seeking a AVP Financial Reporting with experience in the Life Insurance Industry.

On behalf our insurance client, we are seeking an AVP Financial Reporting.

 

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Maintain the company’s sub-ledger and other general ledger supporting working papers

  • Preparation of financial reports for the Company’s SEC and statutory filings. These reports will include quarterly and annual statements, supporting schedules, variance analysis, and other financial analysis as required

  • Preparation of financial reports for the Company’s foreign branches (UAE and Taiwan), as well as the Company’s reinsurance transactions with other entities

  • Development of budgets, forecasts and plans for the life reinsurance products, including but not limited to variable annuity guarantees and traditional mortality reinsurance

  • Coordination and review of internal financial reporting

  • Development and coordination of the statutory accounting filings with the Bermuda insurance regulators, GAAP financial statements and related audits and external reports to rating agencies

  • Development and coordination of internal controls including Sarbanes –Oxley compliance

  • Assist with quarterly review and annual audit with external auditors, including SOX documentation

  • Assist where necessary with projects related to the Life Reinsurance and International Life business

 

The successful applicant must possess the fo0llowing:

 

  • A professional accounting designation  (CA, ACA, ACCA, or CPA preferred)

  • Minimum of 8 years post qualification accounting experience, at least 2 years in a life insurance/reinsurance company

  • Knowledge of insurance/reinsurance financial and  regulatory reporting applicable to variable annuities

  • Experience with the implementation of US GAAP

  • Knowledge of relevant  U.S. Bermuda and rating agency capital models

  • Knowledge of relevant U.S, Bermuda statutory requirements and filing processes

  • Well-versed in Microsoft applications, including Excel, Word, and Access

  • Ability to analyze financial reports, statements and projections

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Genuine aptitude for working in an energetic  and entrepreneurial small team environment

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work extended hours and weekends when required
