POSITION SUMMARY:
The AC Technician under the direction of the Refrigeration Engineer is responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and identifying risk with the ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration systems, and equipment. This position is skilled in the principles of air conditioning unit repair and maintenance, including controls, safety practices, and procedures. The AC Technician must have a practical mind and manual skills, being able to work efficiently with great attention to detail. This role is committed to a safety-first culture to ensure optimum safety for Guests, Visitors, and Team Members.

All duties and responsibilities are performed following Royal Caribbean International's Brand Standards, the Royal Way philosophy, Company policies, and SOPs, Public Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental Guidelines.

The nature of this job requires daily interactions with internal and external stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Performs preventative maintenance, repairs, and minor modifications to the air handling units and fixed fans.
• Diagnoses electrical and mechanical faults for HVAC systems, along with the cleaning, adjusting, repairing, and performing warranty services. Implements energy conservation techniques on HVAC systems.
• Performs repairs for the heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
• Reads blueprints, follows manufacturer's operating manuals, and applies knowledge to perform appropriate repairs.
• Identifies and operates all shut-off valves for equipment and all utility shut-offs for buildings.
• Provides instructions to the Team on the proper use of air-conditioning equipment, and other equipment.
• Uses the 'lockout' tags system before performing any maintenance work to ensure safety.
• Recharges air conditioning and refrigeration systems by selecting the appropriate refrigerant.
• Installs and repairs automotive air-conditioning units. Removes faulty units from vehicles, disassembles them, and replaces worn, broken parts and fluid in the unit. Adjusts calibration of thermostatic controls. • Inspects and maintains refrigerators and ice machines, and chilled water supply systems.
• Performs routine F-Gas leak detection and monthly weighing of all refrigerant and recovery cylinders.
• Reads work orders and maintains records of production status for communication with the Refrigeration Engineer.
• Discusses complications with the Refrigeration Engineer and brainstorms solutions for increased productivity.
• Uses clear, concise, and professional communication in person, over the radio, and in written format.
• Demonstrates effective teamwork and collaboration, and time management skills.
• Adheres to all Company policies regarding PPE and Chemical Management.
• Sets up and closes working areas as per schedule or as instructed by the Management Team.
• Participates in trainings and meetings. Adheres to a Company confidentiality agreement.
• Follows the destination's grooming standards. Ensures personal appearance, hygiene, and uniform appearance are always in accordance with Company policy. Maintains a safe and sanitary environment for Guests and the Team.
• Acknowledges and greets Guests, Visitors, and Team Members in public spaces with a warm, friendly greeting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A High School Diploma or basic education equivalency is required. Education or training on HVAC systems is preferred.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience within the marine or resort technical environment in a similar position.
• Strong mechanical aptitude. Familiar with sheet metal, AC duct fabrication, and assembly.
• Experience and knowledge in advance troubleshooting of refrigerant systems, control systems, readings, and records.
• Ability to resolve problems and to work without supervision.
• Good interpersonal skills to communicate with all levels of Management and Team Members.
• Ability to work positively and cooperatively in a diverse international Team environment.
• Ability to maintain focus, work with strict deadlines, multitask and be flexible and adaptable.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with Guests, Team Members, Contractors, and Vendors.
• Ability to read and write English, to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from Guests, Managers, and Team Members.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste and smell. The Team Member must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• All destination Team Members must be physically able to participate in emergency life-saving procedures and drills. Full use/range of motion of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal, and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Destination outdoor environment where high temperature, precipitation, and humid temperatures are experienced.
• While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is required to work outdoors in extremely humid and hot conditions for an extended time, indoors, walking in sand, and uneven surfaces.
