ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR - ENERGY SYSTEMS AND PETROLEUM ENGINEERING

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Prepares and delivers lectures to students within prescribed curriculum;
  • Compiles bibliographies of specialized materials for outside reading assignments;
  • Directs research and review of other academic staff and/or graduate students working for advanced academic degrees;
  • Participates in research conferences and seminars;
  • Publishes findings from research in professional journals;
  • Advises students on academic curricula and acts as adviser to student organizations;
  • Leads research team, supervises and manages research projects and supports the development of emerging research profiles from other lecturers;
  • Contributes to the collegiate development and management of research activities;
  • Provides professional consulting services to government and industry via the Industry Liaison and Professional Services Unit;
  • Provides service to the University and/or community/society.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering from a recognized University Institution or other terminal degree with relevant combination of experience and training
  • Minimum of nine (9) years actively involved in teaching and research in an institution of higher learning including six (6) years  at an Assistant Professorship level
  • Demonstrated scholarly activity (publications/presentations etc.) at a local and international level
  • Consideration will be given to professional / industry experience

  • Demonstrated theoretical and professional knowledge of the discipline
  • Demonstrated competence with course content
  • Sound knowledge and demonstrated application of pedagogy
  • Knowledge of  Research Methodologies
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding and use of statistics
