Job Summary |
The Assistant Engineer is responsible to the Chief Engineer for safe, efficient and economical maintenance of all machinery including electrical and electronic equipment on board the vessel. They shall be a member of the Relief Bridge Team, relieving the Chief Engineer as required. The Assistant Engineer shall become fully acquainted with fire equipment, alarm systems, safety equipment and the Safety Management System.
Minimum Requirements |
Qualification/ Experience and Training:
• Certificate of Competency as a watch-keeping engineer (STCW 95 Compliant) from a recognized authority (Minimum – 3rd. Class Engineer Certificate)
• Current valid Seafarers Medical Certificate (STCW 95 Compliant), unrestricted
• Type Rating Certificate
• Marine First Aid Certificate
• Basic Safety (STCW 95 Compliant)
• MED Certificate
• Working and location knowledge of all lifesaving equipment MES, rafts, survival suits, rescue craft, flares, etc.
• Working and location knowledge of all fire-fighting equipment, including air packs and firemen's outfit, fuel stops, CO2 releases, remote fan stops, general alarms, sprinkler systems, water tight doors, fusible link dampers.
• Working knowledge of Fire Detection Systems, including bridge fire detection panel, together with a good knowledge of associated drawings of fire zones and locations.
