Our Client is seeking a highly proficient and forward thinking Vice President to lead their Engineering and Capital Projects Division, and support service delivery that consistently exceeds expectations with regard to efficiency, productivity, safety and security.
The Role
Reporting to the President, the position is expected to provide a strategic approach to strengthen the planning, workflow, efficiency and accountability in implementing and managing the engineering and capital projects. The individual appointed will assume responsibility for the following Sections:
- System Planning & Water Resource Development
- Engineering Design & Standards
- Project Implementation
- Project Support Services
- Environment Management
- Develop and implement effective quality and environmental management systems, to provide the public with a reliable source of safe, quality assured, potable water.
- Direct and guide Engineering Managers in system planning, conducting technical/financial viability studies, pertinent to designing potable water and sewerage systems.
- Ensure the efficient development and abstraction of surface and ground water resources and the maintenance of a database of production sources.
- Arrange project activities and work progress to ensure performance, budget and activity schedules meet realization of objectives.
- Oversee the assessment and review of applications for water and wastewater service for land development proposals.
- Engage and develop the management team to cultivate a sound, self-sufficient talent pipeline.
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards and specifications.
- Direct the development and implementation of project and program monitoring and evaluation systems.
- Maintain a network of healthy relationships with key stakeholders and agencies that support the execution of projects being undertaken.
Qualifications, Experience & Profile
MSc Engineering or MBA; BSc Civil or Mechanical Engineering; PE registration; at least 10 years’ related professional engineering experience with 8 at the senior management level, gained in a unionized environment.
- A record of solid project management experience.
- Expert knowledge of potable water production, transmission, storage and distribution systems.
- Expert knowledge of wastewater collection, conveyance, treatment and disposal systems.
- Sound knowledge of Water Resource Management and Hydrogeological systems; Safety and Environmental matters.
- Demonstrated change management experience.
- A consultative team development approach that intentionally builds an infrastructure of strong support.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders and ability to collaborate across organizations.
- The role demands a calibre of leadership that inspires trust and commitment, fosters collaboration and builds cohesive, motivated, high performing teams. with an accountability mindset.
- Resilient, proven ability to work under pressure, highly responsive to issues with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- A sharp and tactical thinker, confident and persuasive communicator and negotiator, with sound judgment and exceptional success in building alliances, who interacts comfortably at all levels.
