The Social Transformation and Renewal Foundation (STAR) is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Procurement & Logistics Officer to be based in Kingston.

The Procurement & Logistics Officer is responsible for acquiring goods, services from external sources for the organization for the foundation.  This role requires a combination of initiative, judgment, coordination, and networking skills to organize the successful acquisition and distribution throughout the organisation.

As a procurement and logistics officer, your role involves overseeing the acquisition of goods and services necessary for the operation of an organization, as well as managing the transportation and distribution of those goods. The role requires a combination of initiative, judgment, coordination, networking and administrative skills.  Your responsibilities include:

1. Procurement:

  • Identifying suppliers/vendors and evaluating their products and services.
  • Negotiating contracts, prices, and terms with suppliers to ensure favorable terms for the organization.
  • Generating purchase orders and managing the procurement process from requisition to delivery, ensuring timely and efficient acquisition of goods or services.
  • Maintaining accurate physical & electronic records of purchases, pricing, and other procurement-related data.
  • Ensuring that procurement processes comply with company policies and regulations.
  • Sourcing Suppliers: Identifying potential suppliers through market research, networking, and negotiations to ensure the best value for money.
  • Supplier Relationship Management:** Building and maintaining positive relationships with suppliers to foster long-term partnerships and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Cost Management:** Monitoring and controlling procurement costs, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and optimizing procurement processes to achieve efficiency and savings.
  • Compliance:  Ensuring procurement activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies, including ethical and sustainability considerations.
  • Inventory Management:  Managing inventory level for efficiency.

2. Logistics:

  • Coordinating the transportation of goods from suppliers to the organization's offices.
  • Optimizing transportation routes and methods to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.
  • Resolving any issues or delays in the transportation or delivery process.

3. Collaboration:

  • Collaborating with internal departments and finance to understand their procurement and logistics needs.
  1. Working closely with vendors and suppliers to build and maintain strong relationships.
  2. Communicating effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment on procurement and logistics strategies and priorities.
  3. Organise site visits, secure resources and coordinate all other logistical details to ensure the successful execution of Project STAR events.

4. Compliance and Risk Management:

    1. Implementing measures to enhance security and reduce the risk of theft, damage, or loss during transportation and storage.
    2. Inventory management
