The Role:

We are seeking a Marine Assurance Superintendent to be based in the company's Jamaica office. We are entrepreneurial, fast- moving, and motivated by a desire to change the way that energy and electricity are delivered around the world. We are looking for a motivated, highly experienced individual with shared beliefs and passion to come and help drive the journey.

As a Marine Assurance Superintendent at New Fortress Energy, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our marine assets. You will be tasked with assisting vetting inspections, managing service agreements, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. Additionally, you will participate in incident investigations, develop marine operation policies, and analyze performance data to identify areas for improvement. This position requires a strong background in marine technicality, experience with LNG carriers, and familiarity with industry regulations and best practices.

What you will do:

  • Conduct vetting inspections and respond to vetting reports from vetted organizations and oil majors or as per Commercial requirement.
  • Support Commercial on Feasibility and operational queries.
  • Ensure timely close-outs of observations and non-conformities from audits and inspections.
  • Correctly report, investigate, record, and communicate incidents, technical failures, and deficiencies.
  • Lead incident and ship defect investigations, including the management of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Compliance and Compatibility:
    • Maintain and monitor vetting and port information databases.
    • Participate in ship shore technical discussions and compatibility confirmation workshops, port authority meetings as and when required.
    • Operational/Commercial Support:
      • Confirm that assigned vessels are operated in accordance with company and industry requirements.
      • Develop marine operation policies, procedures, and checklists.
      • Investigate vessel-specific performance trends and identify opportunities for improvement.
      • Supervise on loading / discharging LNG operations as and when required.
      • Conduct port and facility inspections as necessary.
      • Monito STS operation through out lifecycle.
      • Ensure  STS Equipment's are procured, maintained and develop retirement policy .
      • Finance:
        • Manage costs with STS operational activities.
        • Identify opportunities to simplify, improve, or reduce costs.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marine field, Maritime Academy graduate preferred, or five years equivalent experience required.
  • Licensed Unlimited Master, Chief Mate, or Chief Engineer preferred.
  • LNG sailing experience (LNG onboard sailing staff transitioning to shore roles will be considered).
  • Basic knowledge of ports, jetties, harbors, and LNG processing facilities.
  • Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office products required.
  • Strong marine engineering background with knowledge of LNG carriers.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and best practices (e.g., SOLAS, MARPOL, OCIMF, SIGTTO).
  • Knowledge and understanding of Class societies and international regulations and protocols relating to company vessels required.
  • Written and verbal communications at all organizational levels in a clear and concise manner
  •  Strong ability to manage multiple tasks requiring solid planning, control, review, and cost projection/variance analysis skills.
  • Highly developed prioritization and organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • High level of analytical skill and process management ability.
  • Ability to board vessels in port (requires using a gangway with a grade of 30-60 degrees).
  • Ability to climb ladders and navigate over uneven surfaces during vessel visits.
  • Ability to board vessels at anchor (climb a Jacob’s ladder from a water taxi).
  • Possess good sensory perception (sight, smell, hearing, touch).
  • Ability to enter and inspect confined spaces.
  •  Willingness to remain accessible for communication and consultation on an around-the-clock basis and work unusual hours, including nights and weekends as required.

Expected Annual Base Salary Range: Any offered salary is determined by several components, including, but not limited to, job duties, geographic location, market data/ranges, applicant skills and prior relevant experience. The minimum/maximum expected annual salary information includes only base salary or hourly rate and does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be offered.

Incentive Compensation: NFE employees are eligible to receive a discretionary annual bonus, determined at NFE’s discretion based on company and individual performance. NFE reserves the right to amend its incentive compensation practices, and nothing in this job requisition or any other document creates a right to a specific incentive compensation payment.
