He/She will be responsible for daily functions of the HR Department including interviewing, employee engagement, benefits administration, leave management; disciplinary matters and record keeping; and enforcing company policies and practices.

Human Resources Officer 

This indivudal will help to maintain positive employee relations and work to ensure employee satisfaction.  Core responsibility of Island Routes with shared service of Island Routes Enterprises.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of employment contracts.
  • Maintain personnel files of weekly paid teams.
  • Primary contact for Contact Centre personnel matters.
  • Administration of Group Health & Life Insurance for weekly paid team.
  • Administration of Group Pension for weekly paid team.
  • Execute monthly birthday treats.
  • Process administrative requests – job letters, reference letters etc.
  • Support the onboarding of new team members.
  • Review and process disciplinary forms and team member grievances.
  • Support recruitment process.
  • Conduct exit interviews.
  • Maintenance of the HRIS.
  • Manage the evaluation process – probationary and bi-annual evaluations.
  • Create and circulate internal communication from HR.
  • Any other task as assigned by the Human Resources Manager or his/her designate.

Qualification and Experience Required:

  • Tertiary level education relevant to role at a recognized learning institution.
  • Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • 2-3 years of experience in similar/related role.

Job Requirements and Competencies:

  • Knowledge of Jamaican labour laws and IR practices.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access and familiarity with HRIS are essential.
  • Exceptional administrative, time management and organizational skills; attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Strong communication skills both oral and written.
  • Must be able to communicate at all levels; and possess excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Positive and personable demeanor.
  • Highly developed human relations and conflict resolution skills.
  • Must be mature, confidential and professional.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural and fast-paced environment.
  • Must be enthusiastic and energetic.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
  • Flexible to work as needed.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective professional relationships.
  • Ability to execute daily tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment and be a self-starter who works with integrity. ethical conduct and a strong team player.

  • Ability to grasp new concepts quickly and efficiently. 

Schedule:

  • Standard 5-day work week at 40 hours (excluding lunch break), Monday to Friday.
