Reports To: Group Finance Manager

Job Overview         

Dwellings Group with locations in Barbados and Trinidad is currently searching for an experienced candidate with a keen eye for detail and organizational skills to join our dynamic team in the position of Accountant. This role, under the direction of the Group Finance Manager will provide support to the regional finance team by managing daily accounting tasks with a particular emphasis on International Payables, Cash Flow Management and Intercompany Reconciliations.

Essential Functions          

  1. Manage the Accounts Payable process, ensuring all invoices, credit notes and payments are properly approved, coded and entered.
  2. Ensuring all vendor reconciliations are completed by the 3rd working day of the following month as well as the AP sub ledger to general ledger reconciliation
  3. Manage the Payments process, ensuring all due and overdue invoices are processed timely and accurately.
  4. Communicating with vendors on invoices, payments, discrepancies and ensuring timely closeout of any pending issues
  5. Manage the cash flow forecasting process ensuring all variables are factored in and maximizing cash flow for the Company
  6. Working closely with banks and other financial institutions to ensure all forex requirements are met
  7. Manage the processing and reconciliation of all banking related transactions daily on Odoo
  8. Manage the Intercompany reconciliation process ensuring all GL accounts across the Group are reconciled by the 5th working day of the following month.
  9. Accurately enter financial data into the company's accounting system and ensure that all transactions are fully documented
  10. Assist in processing and reconciliation of sales related transactions daily
  11. Assist in processing and reconciliation of expenses and accounts payables daily
  12. Assist in reviewing fortnightly and monthly payroll and ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements
  13. Assist in the review and monitoring of inventory and cost of sales, review cycle count adjustments, liaise with Inventory Department to ensure all transfers and validation entries are completed for the month end close process
  14. Assist in monitoring accounts receivable, reconciling trade accounts and send follow-ups on overdue/delinquent customer accounts to ensure payments are received in a timely manner.
  15. Assist in the general monthly financial statement close process (FSCP)
  16. Assist in coordinating with external auditors for year end audits, preparing audit schedules and facilitating all audit requests
  17. Participate in process improvement initiatives
  18. Aid in maintaining orderly financial records and documentation
  19. Assist with other accounting tasks and projects as may be required from time to time

Requirements

The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill and abilities required:

  1. Completion of Level 2 ACCA and currently pursuing Level 3
  2. A minimum of 5 years proven experience in an accounting role. Experience in the retail industry will be considered an advantage
  3. Desire for accuracy and completeness with excellent attention to detail
  4. Experience in a high-volume environment with ability to manage multiple priorities will be considered an advantage
  5. Experience using ERP systems and payroll software. Experience in Odoo and Micropay will be considered an advantage
  6. Experience in cash flow management will be considered an advantage
  7. Highly organized, with experience in administration and records management
  8. Tech-savvy, with high proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Teams and Excel
  9. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively across departments and with local and international stakeholders
