The social media assistant will be a member of the marketing team serving the editorial, radio, sales, and events departments.

A key to our success, and a primary online strategy, must be the constant, accurate, and immediate updating of our websites, social media, and mobile platforms.


  • Collaborate with the marketing coordinator/manager, editors, as well as sales and event managers, and reporters to post pre-publication teases, and potential crowd-sourcing assistance in the development of stories.
  • Immediately post content of interest to our readers/listeners via appropriate methods, like posts, stories, videos, etc.
  • Post excerpts of print and online stories to drive traffic and awareness.
  • Post stand-alone social media stories, especially on platforms like Instagram and Facebook.
  • Help coordinate with the marketing and events team any live social media coverage of events, including the text, video, and audio live coverage.
  • Monitor all social media for news, mentions, discussions, trends, etc. relating to our verticals.
  • Moderate incoming user comments on Compass Media websites and social posts.
  • Create outgoing social media information flow and interactions. Assist in creating content for one or more social media platforms and ensure that any audience participation is answered with alacrity.
  • Promote the use of social media by relevant Compass staff. Regularly monitor staff social media practices and provide training where necessary.
  • Regularly update staff about new developments in social media and on the web, as well as in new web mobile, and social media best practices.
  • Plan and execute the daily publishing schedule on social media networks according to both the news agenda and the documented news consumption habits of our audience.
  • Make regular recommendations to marketing, sales, and events teams for actions to increase the number and engagement of our followers and communities.
  • Identify, plan, and implement strategies and best practices to spread our content through stories, likes, tweets, and shares on social media.
  • Choose and monitor apps that help manage social media activity.
  • The social media assistant will be occasionally required to write draft articles and post stories on websites, in a WordPress environment.
  • These stories will complement the social media role and assist in the overall SEO efforts of the team.
  • Additionally, the social media assistant will assist with organising, writing, and/or testing email campaigns, making audience communication a seamless process on all platforms and outlets.
  • Any other reasonable duties that may be required by management.


Minimum Requirements
  • Excellent knowledge of social media platforms.
  • Eagerness to learn about innovations and software.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Must be a team player with a great attitude.
  • Successful candidates will be required to attend the office at Compass Centre, 319 Shedden Road, George Town, Grand Cayman.

Salary CI$25,000 - CI$30,000 per annum
