Retail Manager, to lead the growth strategy, and exercise oversight and control of its retail operations.

Distribution Services Limited (DSL Cash & Carry), a subsidiary of Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) seeks applications for the position of Retail Manager, to lead the growth strategy, and exercise oversight and control of its retail operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in planning, procurement, logistics, inventory management, and control, with a strategic mindset, be analytical, and data-driven, and display excellent leadership and coordination skills in a fast-moving consumer goods environment.

 

Main duties and responsibilities:

 

  1. Manage the Retail Division's profit goals by crafting business strategy.
  2. Foster a culture of adherence within the Retail Division by ensuring all stakeholders rigorously follow company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  3. Cultivate a top-performing team through a comprehensive approach of induction, training, coaching, and development, empowering staff members to achieve company objectives.
  4. Implement strategies to minimize waste, shrinkage, stock write-off, and retail expenses, ensuring they consistently meet or fall below budgeted amounts.
  5. Drive operational excellence across all retail locations through regular visits, monitoring compliance with floor management, cash handling, and adherence to other critical operational standards.
  6. Champion a customer-centric approach within the retail business by actively managing customer service, promptly addressing complaints and issues, and proposing effective solutions.

 

Main Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in business management, marketing, inventory management, or a related field, or similar qualification such as ACCA.
  2. At least 5 years’ experience in supermarket management.
  3. Ability to exercise strong judgment and decision-making, with good analytical and problem-solving skills, high attention to detail, and a proven facility to be driven by data analytics.
  4. Strong multi-tasking ability, communication, and coordination skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  5. Leadership and team management skills, to motivate and guide a diverse team.
