Pastry Chef

Our client, an established catering and retail food business is seeking to fill the position of Pastry Chef.

JOB SUMMARY

The Pastry Chef will be responsible for preparing and baking large quantities of various baked goods. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare a wide variety of pastries and baked goods such as cakes, muffins, pies, bread etc as required by the business. 
• Create new and exciting pastries and/or desserts to add to the existing menu.
• Ensure the quality of all pastries and baked goods. 
• Adhere to production schedules, ensuring that all items are readily available. 
• Collaborate with the Manager of the Baking Department and Head Chef to ensure that kitchen operations run smoothly.
• Keep abreast of developing pastry/baking techniques, equipment, and ingredients. 
• Maintain a clean and orderly station adhering to company health and safety standards. 
• Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and in good working condition.
• Monitor ingredient levels, ensuring that there is always an adequate supply.
• Supervise and train staff members when needed.

 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Proven work experience as a Pastry Chef, Baker or a related role.
• A degree or related certificate or training in the Culinary Arts, Pastry Making, or Baking. 
• A minimum of eight (8) years’ experience working in the food industry as a Pastry Chef or Baker.
• Strong sense of culinary creativity with attention to detail.
• Capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
