  • The Maintenance Manager provides managerial oversight of the day-to-day operations of the Maintenance Department and ensures that all the maintenance resources of the company are managed and operated in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner while maximizing plant and equipment reliability and availability.

Job Description:

  • Oversee the inspection of plant assets (equipment, machinery, etc) to ensure they are working properly and identify any hazards for elimination.
  • Prepare and submit recommendations on department budgets, forecasts, CAPEX for annual business plan.
  • Develop and performance manage subordinate staff while providing effective leadership and ensuring compliance with company procedures and good IR practices.
  • Manage manpower requirements of the department, identify training gaps of support team, conduct training initiatives/coaching sessions to develop skill competencies of staff.
  • Direct and manage the predictive and preventative maintenance systems to optimise asset utility; manage and schedule work, and plant shutdowns to maximise plant/equipment availability.
  • Track, analyze, and improve key maintenance parameters such as asset utilization, maintenance cost, PM and schedule compliance.
  • Manage the selection, installation and commissioning of new equipment, re-engineering of plant equipment.
  • Develop SOPs and ensure that modifications to plant/ equipment are reflected in engineering drawings/specifications.
  • Produce monthly department reports, status updates and any special reports/studies as required.
  • Liaise with other departments to coordinate maintenance work, and with Senior management on issues and that affect the department.
  • Provide timely updates to Senior Management on projects with recommendations to resolve issues.
  • Oversee work/projects completed by contractors to ensure external equipment repairs are completed in a timely basis and of a high quality.
  • Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate health, safety, security and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Perform any other job duties as required by the job function.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • BSc. Electrical/Mechanical Engineering from a recognised and accredited institution.
  • At least seven (7) years engineering experience of which five (5) should be at a supervisory/management level.
  • Good all round communication skills and ability to explain complex technical information in a way that the team can understand and be able to communicate with clients and contractors to ensure that everyone is on the same page.
  • Ability to lead a team of technical staff to success by providing clear direction, setting goals, and providing feedback.
  • Ability to manage employee performance for success where goals are created, competencies are incorporated, and constructive feedback is provided for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborative with the ability to be a key team player, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to influence.
  • Must be meticulous and the ability to analyse, troubleshoot, and solve problems is critical.
  • Resilient and the ability to work effectively under pressure, managing a diverse and competing workload.
  • High level of integrity and ethics by keeping good on promises; holding self-accountable; and being honest and truthful.
