Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts marine educational programs by creating enjoyable learning experiences through the sharing of in-depth knowledge of our marine life and operations for both facility and at sea programs with guests.
  • Helps to provide a safe environment for guests, team members, self and animals by ensuring all safety protocols are followed.
  • Assists with the maintenance of aquarium exhibits in accordance with routine and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Performs feedings to prepared schedules & programs for in-tank routines.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, hygienic and tidy environment at all times.
  • Prepares food for exhibit animals in accordance with dietary programs. This includes extensive attention to detail for cleaning of food prep areas and food storage areas.
  • Ensures all equipment and supplies needed for each program are prepared and available prior to the start of the program.
  • Participates in scientific research and public education as directed by the needs of the facility.
  • Maintains Personal and professional development.
  • Interacts with guests by providing information in an engaging, courteous and professional manner.
  • Reports for duty at scheduled times and in proper uniform. Must be available for any shift necessary to accommodate guest interactions, seasonal or routine.
  • Maintains a sound knowledge of the Company's facilities and related services.
  • Maintains the department standard of excellent physical condition as needed to perform all aspects of the job safely. Must be able to pass physical swim test on an annual basis.
  • Responsible for understanding and applying all information contained in SOP's and department manuals.
  • Performs all reasonable duties related to animal and guest needs as requested by management and as the department requires regardless of time, day or location.

CUSTOMER SERVICE PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Display the highest standards of customer service at all times, welcoming customers in a polite, gracious and enthusiastic manner, paying attention at all times and anticipating and meeting their needs.
  • Respond quickly and positively to guests' questions, requests, problems, and complaints and resolve them effectively and consistently.
  • Maintain overall knowledge of the resort and provide proactive assistance to customers when appropriate using clear and concise conversation.
  • Always smile and engage our guests first, using their name when appropriate and maintaining eye contact at all times.
  • Demonstrate departmental knowledge and efficiency at all times.
  • Stay well groomed, looking professional, clean and appropriately fitted in compliance with the company's standards.

Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or general education diploma.
  • Excellent health and physical condition. Must demonstrate these skills by successfully passing annual departmental swim test.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethics
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally.
  • Must be comfortable performing assigned duties in close proximity to all animals in our collection.
  • Demonstrates mature responsible behavior in duties. Especially in potentially dangerous situations such as working around some of the valuable and possibly hazardous marine animals.
