The VP, IT Applications plans, implements, supports, and manages a support team for the portfolio of applications that fully address the needs of one or more of the core functional areas of the business: resort operations, gaming systems, administrative systems, and sales & marketing applications. T
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
• Participates in steering committees and user requirement meetings and performs follow-up documentation, actions and activities as required.
• Analyzes business needs, develops short- and long-term planning documents and functional specifications, etc.
• Maintains a continuous open dialogue with all parties.
• Establishes and maintains a strong working relationship with the senior and functional managers throughout the key business areas.
• Manages the system development life cycle methodology.
• Puts together detailed project plans and implementation strategies to meet the objectives outlined by the users.
• Approves proposed project plans and application designs to ensure projects are aligned with standards and information technology strategy.
• Allocates appropriate resources to ensure that projects are completed within the committed time and budget and are integrated with other software applications.
• Ensures that the status of major development projects is timely communicated to the user groups.
• Ensures that anticipated cost benefit analysis projections are fully met.
• Provides key input during operating capital budget planning sessions and closely monitors activities against these plans during the year.
• Provides on-going support and enhancements to an extensive base of legacy systems.
• Continually monitors strengths and weaknesses of the IT staff, devising development plans, skill sets, etc.
• Monitors the strengths & weaknesses of the organization and its delivery capabilities.
• Develops a staff of information systems professionals.
• Retains professional help and consulting services on an as needed basis.
• Approves applications development policies, standards, and procedures.
• Actively participates in the definition and refinement of all policy standards and internal departmental procedures.
• Maintains a strong working knowledge of all vendor activity and software and hardware product developments as it relates to the functional area of the business.
• Participates in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of all emerging and enabling technologies.
• Opens problem reporting tickets and accurately uses all problem tracking software systems.
• Adheres to other defined SOPs as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
