Project Engineer

Job Summary:

The Project Engineer reports to the Sales & Engineering Manager and is responsible for the preparation and costing of proposals and giving general customer and in-house support.

 

Key Responsibilities - Job Functions:

  • Analyze system requirements, capacity, cost, and customer needs to determine feasibility of project and develop system plan.
  • Confer with engineers, customers, vendors or others to discuss existing and potential engineering projects or products.
  • Evaluate proposals and recommend repair or design modifications, based on factors such as environment, service, cost, and system capabilities.
  • Prepare detailed project bid proposals for major projects undertaken by ROIL, including but not limited to construction, civil works, electrical works, mechanical works, instrumentation works, combination works.
  • Prepare project management related documents for key projects e.g. schedules, resource loading charts, work breakdown structures, network diagrams.
  • Assist in leading project coordination and execution with relevant resources, including key line managers.
  • Provide technical support and instruction to staff or customers regarding equipment standards, assisting with specific and difficult in-service engineering.
  • Determine material and equipment needs and order supplies as it relates to equipment sales activities.
  • Prepare documentation containing information such as confidential descriptions or specifications of proprietary hardware or software, product development or introduction schedules, product costs, or information about product performance weaknesses.
  • Review and evaluate work of others, inside and outside the organization, to ensure effectiveness, technical adequacy and compatibility in the resolution of complex engineering problems.
  • Prepare necessary criteria, procedures, reports, or plans for successful conduct of the project with consideration given to site preparation, facility validation, installation, quality assurance, or testing.
  • Initiate sales process by prospecting, scheduling appointments, making initial Presentation, understanding business needs, developing proposals, closing sales.
  • Close sales by building rapport with potential clients, expounding on the benefits of the company solutions and service capabilities; overcoming objections, etc.
  • Responsible for keeping commitments in a timely manner and resolving issues promptly.
  • Accountable for customer satisfaction and providing high quality service. (Example: Acknowledging and responding to clients’ RFQs, questions, and/or concerns promptly.)

  • Co-operate with supervisors and managers on health and safety matters.
  • Do not interfere with systems, procedures or safeguards provided to protect their health and safety.

  • Report all health and safety concerns to the HSE & HR Manager.
  • Inform HSE & HR Manager when special waste in your area needs disposing.
  • Report any unsafe conditions or practices to your superior and the HSE & HR Manager.
  • Observe and comply all safety rules and regulations.
  • Know how to perform jobs assigned and perform them properly.
  • Not undertaking any job you do not understand. Ask your immediate superior if there are any questions or any doubt.
  • Wear/use all safety equipment required by the job to be performed.
  • Participate in safety meetings held by your superior.
  • Report all injuries immediately to your superior.
  • Cooperate with supervisors when injury and accident investigations are being done so that accident causes can be determined and corrective action taken.
  • Report any and all defective tools or equipment immediately.

Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
  • Diploma level training in Project Management (e.g. CAPM level).
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Primavera P6 or equivalent Project Management Software training will be considered an asset.
  • At least 1 years’ experience.
  • Auto Cad experience.
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to develop optimised project portfolio documents, and have demonstrated experience in managing at least two significant projects.
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills, able to set priorities, and responsive to customer requests.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute results against strategy and meet critical deadlines.
  • Demonstrates business knowledge, perspective and ethical behaviour.
  • Highly self-motivated and enthusiastic.

  • Quotations Prepared on Time. (Within 2-3 days.)
  • Quotations Costed Properly.
  • Budgets managed properly.
  • Accurate scheduling and resourcing.
  • Correct Equipment and Part Selection.
  • First Class Customer Service.
